Q:

Within our FP6 project we would like to hire a person to work only on project related activities, i.e. his salary would be eligible personnel cost. If we want to pay him to complete a doctorate (extra cost to be paid to Academia) would this cost be eligible?

A:

If he is working 100% of his time on the project and he gets his doctorate from the work on the project (i.e. his 100% of his doctorate is the project) yes, the expense is allowable (it is part of his remuneration).
